Between mortars, rockets, RPGs, booby traps and bullets, there was no safe place in for a soldier in Vietnam.
Remember your Christmas in the Nam? Mine was spent on an ambush patrol near the Cambodian border.

50 years ago today I watched the moon landing from the North Fort Hood Officer's Club. I was asked to run the club for a Texas National Guard unit because we had too many young officers in our 17th Engineer Bn. I had been a bus boy in college, thus I was qualified and selected. Later I was sent off to Diehard in Lai Khe.
